Pick an investment route and your household scope. The tool holds the qualifying investment steady and scales government and professional fees by the number of applicants.
Cost breakdown
What the Portugal Golden Visa calculator includes
The calculator separates the fixed, statutory numbers from the estimates so you can see what is set by law and what depends on your provider.
| Cost line | Basis | How it scales |
|---|---|---|
| Qualifying investment | Fixed by law for each route (€200,000 to €500,000) | One investment covers the whole household |
| Application analysis fee | Government fee per applicant (≈ €632.10, indicative) | Charged once for each person on the application |
| Residence permit issuance | Government fee per applicant (≈ €6,314.20, indicative) | Charged for each person when the permit is granted |
| Professional & legal fees | Typical market range, varies by provider | Rises modestly with each additional family member |
| Renewals (not in total) | Per-applicant renewal fee (≈ €3,789.90, indicative: €632.10 analysis plus €3,157.80 renewal) | Paid again at each renewal, plus fund or due-diligence costs |
Government fees use AIMA's applied (presencial/digital) fee column from the AIMA fee table effective 1 March 2026 (Portaria n.º 307/2023); figures are indicative, so confirm the current AIMA table before filing. Investment thresholds are statutory. Last updated 23 June 2026.

Beyond the cost
What the numbers do not show
A Portugal Golden Visa calculator answers the cost question. These conditions shape whether a route actually fits your family.
Physical presence. The Golden Visa carries a low stay requirement of an average of seven days per year, usually counted as 14 days across each two-year renewal period. It is a residency route, not a relocation mandate.
Eligible family. A single qualifying investment can cover a spouse or partner, dependent children, and dependent parents, which is why the calculator scales fees rather than the investment as you add people.
Holding period and renewals. The investment must be held through the residency period, and the permit is renewed in two-year cycles, each renewal carrying its own per-applicant fee that sits outside the headline application estimate.
Source-of-funds review. Every route requires evidence that the invested capital is clean and traceable. This is where many applications slow down, and it is independent of the cost the calculator returns. US investors using retirement-account capital should review this with licensed advisers first.
